Fokker Services Group begins construction of New Wide-Body Hangar.
The new hanger will be equipped with floor heating and cooling systems all powered by electricity.

The new Fokker Services Group wide-body aircraft hangar will accommodate aircraft such as Airbus A330, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 for services.

Fokker Services Group, a Global Independent Aerospace aftermarket Service Provider creating tailored solutions for the maintenance of regional, commercial and military aircraft has commenced the construction of a new wide-body aircraft hangar in close cooperation with Gaptek, a leader in modular architecture. The newly constructed hanger has a configuration of the following: 87-meter (L) x 86-meter (W) x 27-meter (H). The wide-body aircraft hangar will accommodate aircraft such as Airbus A330, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 for services.

“This new hangar is the latest development in our company-wide growth plan,” said Roland van Dijk, Co-CEO, Fokker Services Group. “With this investment we are making a long-term commitment to our colleagues, customers, suppliers and the local community. As the markets for wide-body maintenance and VIP completions continue to grow, this modern hangar extension allows us to support new and existing customers for the years to come,” he further added.

The hanger will be equipped with floor heating and cooling systems all powered by electricity. This hangar is part of a larger expansion plan by the Fokker Services Group, which includes hiring new colleagues and opening a second new wide-body hangar. The company also plans on extending workshop spaces at Fokker Services Group’s global facilities.

“Since the beginning, one of the most important values for Gaptek is to provide more sustainable and cost efficient solutions,” explains Tomas Felius founding member and President, Gaptek. “Our technology, initially engineered to provide  solutions for Military Defense, is now more advanced and permits us to provide turnkey facilities that can adapt to the actual civil aviation market needs, such as fast deployment, low environmental impact, capability to be easily adapted and relocated while maintaining the CE quality and to comply with IBC and local regulations. This project is an important milestone in the international markets expansion’s for Gaptek,” he further added.

Gaptek after finalizing the planning, development and preparations has begun construction of the modular hangar on-site, which will take just 12-14 weeks to complete. The design of the hangar is based on Gaptek’s patented lightweight system, which is fast to assemble and disassemble, and easy to relocate. The aluminum construction reduces CO2 emissions by up to 21% compared to conventional steel structures.
