FlyOne Armenia signs MoU with CFM International for LEAP-1A engines

FlyOne Armenia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CFM International for four LEAP-1A engines to power two Airbus A321neo aircraft, supporting the airline’s fleet expansion and modernisation plans.

The engine agreement follows FlyOne Armenia’s order for two Airbus A321neo aircraft, announced in May during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Yerevan. The airline, based at Zvartnots International Airport, currently operates a fleet of four Airbus A320ceo aircraft powered by CFM56-5B engines.

The addition of the LEAP-1A-powered A321neo aircraft is expected to improve operational efficiency while supporting the carrier’s continued growth across European markets.

Aram Khachatryan, CEO of FlyOne Armenia, said the agreement reflects the airline’s commitment to operating a modern and efficient fleet.

“This agreement underlines our ongoing commitment to operating a modern and efficient fleet for our passengers. The LEAP-1A engines will enable us to enhance our operational efficiency as we continue our growth across European markets,” Khachatryan said.

CFM International welcomed the agreement, marking FlyOne Armenia’s first order for LEAP engines.

“We are honored by the continued confidence of FlyOne Armenia with this first LEAP engine order. We remain fully committed to delivering the very best CFM has to offer, in terms of efficiency, reliability, and world-class customer support,” said Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International.

Established in 2021, FlyOne Armenia has rapidly expanded its network and now operates scheduled and charter services to more than 26 destinations across Europe.

CFM International said its LEAP engine family has surpassed 10,000 deliveries worldwide, making it the fastest-ramping commercial aircraft engine programme in aviation history. The company continues to enhance the platform with upgrades, including a high-pressure turbine (HPT) durability kit to extend time on wing and a reverse bleed system (RBS) designed to reduce maintenance requirements. CFM also remains focused on improving engine availability through enhanced MRO performance and competitive lifecycle costs supported by its open aftermarket ecosystem.
