FlyArystan secures AOC from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan
Since its inception in 2019, FlyArystan has operated under the Air Astana AOC.

FlyArystan, Air Astana’s low-cost carrier brand, on April 1, 2024 was granted the AOC from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan followed by a thorough audit and examination process allowing FlyArystan to align its operations more effectively.

FlyArystan, Air Astana Joint Stock Company’s low-cost carrier brand, has been granted its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK). Air Astana Joint Stock Company is the largest airline group in Central Asia and the Caucasus regions, This significant development, issued on April 1, 2024, follows a thorough audit and examination process by the AAK, highlighting FlyArystan’s adherence to aviation regulations and international operational standards.

Since its inception in 2019, FlyArystan has operated under the Air Astana AOC. However, obtaining its own AOC now allows FlyArystan to align its operations more effectively with its low-cost carrier model and explore additional growth opportunities. It’s important to note that FlyArystan remains a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Air Astana Group.

This strategic decision holds several benefits for both the Group and FlyArystan’s customers. Firstly, having a separate AOC is crucial for the airline’s growth and development. Operationally, it enhances efficiency and establishes FlyArystan’s recognition among global aviation authorities. Moreover, the independent AOC enables FlyArystan to receive its own IATA code, facilitating expanded distribution globally and fostering partnerships with other airlines.

Peter Foster, CEO, Air Astana Group said, “The Air Astana Group comprises two differentiated and complementary airline brands. Since its launch five years ago, FlyArystan has grown into the market leader in Kazakhstan while stimulating the market, providing 3.6 million passengers with low-cost air travel in 2023 and expanding the fleet from four to 18 aircraft, with a further six to be delivered in 2024. This makes it the right time for FlyArystan to obtain its own operator certificate, reflecting the increased size and operational complexity of the airline. It provides the regulatory framework for FlyArystan to continue to grow while pursuing opportunities for international expansion.”

The issuance of FlyArystan’s AOC reflects the airline’s increased size, operational complexity, and ambitious goals for international expansion. It provides the necessary regulatory framework for FlyArystan to continue its growth trajectory while seizing opportunities in new markets.
