18 May 2021: Fergus Wilson has been appointed as the Group Fleet Leasing Director at ASL Aviation Holdings. Fergus has joined the ASL Group from Aer Lingus where he was Chief Technical Office. Fergus has played a significant leadership role in refocusing Aer Lingus owner, IA Group’s, various airline maintenance activities and capabilities.

Fergus Wilson joins ASL after a four-decade career in Ireland’s national airline. He joined Aer Lingus in 1978 as an apprentice instrument mechanic and then worked in various areas within the workshops, hangars, and line maintenance during which he followed a programme of self-study to qualify in other engineering disciplines.

In 1988 he joined Aer Lingus Commuter as an aircraft engineer and went on to hold several supervisory and management roles.

In 2002 he was appointed as Acting Chief Engineer in Aer Lingus, subsequently joining the Senior Management Team in the role of Deputy Chief Engineer and was appointed as Chief Engineer in 2006. In 2010 he was appointed as the Director of Maintenance & Engineering.

Fergus joined the Executive Team in 2010 as Interim Chief Operating Officer and in 2011 was permanently appointed as COO.  In 2015 he was appointed to his current role of Chief Technical Officer and regulatory Post Holder for Continuing Airworthiness.
