FDH Aero expands Canadian presence with new Montreal distribution hub

FDH Aero has strengthened its footprint in North America with the opening of a new sales and distribution facility in Montreal, Canada, as the company looks to enhance support for the country’s growing aerospace and defence sector through faster access to critical parts, localized inventory, and improved supply chain services.

The new Montreal facility will serve as a dedicated regional hub, enabling FDH Aero to provide aerospace manufacturers, MRO providers, and defence customers across Canada with quicker access to essential aerospace hardware, components, and supply chain solutions. The expansion reflects the company’s strategy of combining its global distribution network with strong local capabilities to improve responsiveness and customer service.

According to the company, the facility is supported by experienced local teams with extensive knowledge of the Canadian aerospace market and is stocked with in-country inventory to reduce lead times and improve product availability. Unlike traditional distribution centres focused on specific product categories, the Montreal operation has been established as a comprehensive distribution hub capable of supporting a broad range of aerospace and defence requirements.

The investment comes as Canada’s aerospace industry continues to expand, with increasing demand for efficient supply chain management and reliable aftermarket support. By positioning inventory closer to customers, FDH Aero aims to minimize logistical challenges, shorten delivery times, and strengthen operational continuity for aircraft manufacturers, operators, and maintenance organizations.

Commenting on the expansion, Ian Locke, Executive Vice President of Sales at FDH Aero, said the opening marks another significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy.

“Opening our Montreal facility is an important milestone in our ongoing global expansion and strengthens our position as the leading independent, scaled supply chain solutions partner worldwide. By aligning our resources with highly experienced local professionals, we are fully optimizing the power of local people, local inventory, and local decision-making. This enables us to provide the immediate availability of stock and reliability our customers require across Canada’s rapidly growing aerospace sector,” Locke said.

Ian Walsh, CEO of FDH Aero, highlighted the strategic importance of the new facility in improving service levels for Canadian customers. “Our commitment to the Canadian market is centered entirely on speed and responsiveness. Establishing this strategic distribution hub in Montreal ensures that our regional partners have faster access to the critical components and hardware they need. We are streamlining the supply chain by putting our stock and our experts exactly where our customers need them to be to keep their programs moving,” Walsh said.

The Montreal expansion further reinforces FDH Aero’s global growth strategy of establishing localized distribution centres in key aerospace markets. By integrating regional expertise with its worldwide supply chain network, the company aims to improve inventory availability, reduce operational delays, and support the evolving needs of commercial aviation, business aviation, and defence customers.

For the global MRO industry, the new facility underscores the growing emphasis on regional inventory hubs and localized supply chain resilience, enabling maintenance providers and aerospace operators to reduce turnaround times while ensuring the timely availability of critical components in an increasingly dynamic aftermarket environment.
