Eve Air Mobility recently made an exciting announcement. They’ve teamed up with Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI) as a supplier for important parts of their electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. These parts, called pylons, play a crucial role in supporting the aircraft’s electric power units and lift propellers. KAI brings a wealth of experience to the table, with over 30 years of expertise in supplying major aerostructure components to aircraft manufacturers worldwide. This partnership with Eve marks KAI’s formal entry into the advanced air mobility (AAM) market, in line with their CEO Goo Young Kang’s strategic vision to focus on future air mobility as a core business area.

Eve’s eVTOL aircraft follows a lift+cruise configuration, featuring eight dedicated propellers for vertical flight and fixed wings for cruising. This design offers several advantages, including reduced operational costs, optimized structures, and efficient thrust with minimal noise. Additionally, the aircraft includes an electric pusher powered by dual electric motors, ensuring redundancy in propulsion for enhanced performance and safety.

“KAI has an excellent reputation for quality, technology and business performance supplying numerous aerostructure components for a variety of aircraft including Embraer’s E-Jet E2 model,” said Johann Bordais, CEO, Eve. “We are excited to have KAI join a strong and diverse list of suppliers who will work with us to supply components from prototype through production” he further added.

Apart from KAI, Eve has also enlisted several other key suppliers for their eVTOL aircraft. These include Aciturri, Crouzet, Thales, Honeywell, RECARO Aircraft Seating, FACC, Garmin, Liebherr-Aerospace, Intergalactic, Nidec Aerospace, LLC, BAE Systems, and Duc Hélice Propellers. Together, these suppliers cover various components ranging from sensors and avionics to propulsion systems and seats.

Eve is currently making progress with the assembly of its first full-scale eVTOL prototype at its production facility in Taubaté, Brazil. They plan to conduct extensive test campaigns before commencing deliveries, which are scheduled to begin in 2026. This marks a significant step forward in Eve’s journey towards revolutionizing urban air mobility.

In addition to aircraft production, Eve is also focusing on developing Vector, a unique Urban Air Traffic Management software. This software aims to optimize and scale Urban Air Mobility operations globally, showcasing Eve’s commitment to advancing the future of transportation.
