European Flyers begins fleet renewal with first Tecnam P2010 TDI

European Flyers has taken delivery of its first Tecnam P2010 TDI as part of a 12-aircraft fleet renewal programme for its pilot training operation in Spain.

The P2010 TDI is equipped with a Garmin G1000 NXi glass cockpit, integrated autopilot and four-seat cabin. The aircraft is powered by the Continental CD-170 engine, which uses JET A1 fuel.

Luis Miñano, Director General of European Flyers, said, “This acquisition reflects our commitment to the continuous improvement of training quality and to strengthening European Flyers as a benchmark in pilot training.”

The fleet renewal will require European Flyers to establish maintenance capability for the new aircraft and its systems. As part of the delivery programme, Tecnam is providing specialised technical training to the flight school’s maintenance personnel.

Alvaro La Petra, Authorized Tecnam Dealer in Spain, stated, “We are incredibly proud to support European Flyers in this ambitious fleet renewal program. Delivering the P2010 TDI to such a prestigious and historic academy underscores the unmatched value, safety, and efficiency that Tecnam aircraft bring to the Spanish flight training market. We look forward to working closely with their team as the remaining aircraft join the fleet.”

The training is intended to familiarise technicians with the P2010 TDI’s airframe, engine, avionics and other aircraft systems, supporting maintenance and troubleshooting as additional aircraft enter the fleet.

The introduction of the P2010 TDI also brings a newer generation of avionics and propulsion technology into European Flyers’ fleet. The Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck and Continental CD-170 engine will require appropriate technical knowledge, maintenance procedures, and support equipment.

Walter da Costa, Chief Sales Officer at Tecnam, highlighted, “Spain is one of the most vibrant and important regions for Tecnam in Europe, and our footprint here has never been stronger. European Flyers is an absolute leader in aviation education. Their decision to renew their fleet with 12 Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft is a testament to the reliability, innovation, and sustainability our platforms deliver to top-tier academies globally. We are honored to be their partner for the future.”

The remaining aircraft will be introduced progressively, giving European Flyers’ maintenance organisation additional experience with the P2010 TDI platform and its associated engine and avionics systems.

The programme therefore creates an aftermarket requirement around aircraft inspections, engine maintenance, avionics support, parts and technical training as the 12-aircraft fleet is brought into service.
