Ecuador’s airline entrusts AFI KLM E&M to provide component maintenance and spare parts supply for its medium-haul fleet.

11 January 2022: Equair, a new Ecuadorian airline, has selected AFI KLM E&M to provide component support for its two Boeing 737 NGs. AFI KLM E&M’s parent companies, Air France and KLM, have roots in aviation going back to the dawn of time.

Maintenance, repairs as well as accessibility to AFI KLM E&M’s spare parts pool is included within the multi-year contract, and so is the provision of an advanced stock (Main Base Kit) at the customer’s base at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (Quito, UIO).

The services are offered as part of Boeing and AFI KLM E&M’s 737 Component Services Program (CSP). Equair benefits from the task significance of a leading aircraft manufacturer and an MRO-Airline with in-depth insight of airline standards and operational issues through the CSP.

Gabriela Sommerfeld, CEO, Equair, “It is important for us to start our operations with the highest level of quality. This is why we have chosen a leading MRO solution, which guarantees the availability of parts and thus the availability of our fleet for the benefit of our customers”.

The creation of a new company is always good news, and we are very happy to welcome Equair among the global air transport family! We are also very honored by the trust they have placed in us to support their components. We are committed to provide the best service to contribute to the success of their operations and the growth of their fleet. This is the beginning of a long-term partnership between our companies, which may one day go beyond the MRO field,” said Ton Dortmans, EVP KLM Engineering & Maintenance.

Equair can also rely on AFI KLM E&M’s global network, as well as the long experience of its Amsterdam and Miami workshops with 737 components: its in-house repair capabilities cover the majority of the 737 fleet’s component removals. KLM conducts daily indirect flights between Amsterdam, Miami, and Quito; Equair’s logistical support will be much more efficient and responsive.
