Embraer, UK government sign MoU to expand Aerospace innovation and supply chain collaboration

Embraer and the United Kingdom’s Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in aerospace innovation, engineering and supply chain development, reinforcing the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer’s long-term commitment to the UK aerospace industry.

Signed during the Farnborough International Airshow, the agreement establishes a framework for closer collaboration between Embraer and UK stakeholders across research and development, advanced manufacturing, aviation technologies and industrial capability development. The initiative is expected to support future aerospace programmes while strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the UK’s aerospace supply chain.

The MoU builds on Embraer’s more than four decades of operations in the UK, where the company has established partnerships with local suppliers, supported research and development initiatives and delivered both commercial and defence aircraft. It also complements Embraer’s existing collaboration with UK Export Finance (UKEF), which has helped expand the company’s UK supplier network and significantly increase procurement from British industry.

Under the agreement, Embraer and BIST will work together to identify new opportunities in innovation, engineering, industrial partnerships and supply chain development, creating long-term economic value while supporting future aerospace programmes.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President and Chief Executive Officer of Embraer, said the agreement reinforces the company’s strategic relationship with the UK aerospace sector.

“The United Kingdom is a strategic partner for Embraer, and we see significant opportunities to deepen our collaboration in innovation, technology and industrial development. We share a common vision of aviation as a driver of economic growth, technological advancement and connectivity. Building on the work we’ve been developing with UK Export Finance, this MoU marks an important step in further expanding our partnership and supporting sustainable growth across the global aerospace sector,” he said.

Jonathan Reynolds, UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, said the agreement reflects confidence in the UK’s aerospace industry and its ability to drive future growth.

“This agreement is a strong vote of confidence in the UK’s world-leading aerospace sector and builds on our longstanding partnership with Embraer. By strengthening collaboration on innovation, engineering and supply chains, we can create new opportunities, support high-skilled jobs and drive growth in communities across the UK,” he said.

Gary Elliott, Chief Executive Officer of the Aerospace Technology Institute, welcomed the agreement, noting that it will support collaboration on innovation, supply chain resilience and the competitiveness of the UK’s aerospace sector.

The expanded partnership is expected to create new opportunities across the aerospace value chain, including advanced manufacturing, engineering services, supplier development and long-term aftermarket support, as Embraer continues to strengthen its industrial footprint and global supply network.
