Embraer secures type certification for E190-E2 and E195-E2 jets from Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.
Embraer has a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, with close to 20 operators collectively utilizing approximately 200 E-Jets.

Prior to receiving CAAM’s certification, the Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 had been certified by three prominent civil aviation authorities i.e the FAA, EASA, and ANAC in 2018 and 2019.

Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family of commercial jets, including the E190-E2 and E195-E2, has achieved a significant milestone with the Type Certification granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). This certification comes after SKS Airways, a Malaysian carrier, selected 10 E195-E2s at LIMA’23 to support its growth plans in the region. Prior to receiving CAAM’s certification, the E190-E2 and E195-E2 had already been certified by three prominent civil aviation authorities: the FAA (USA), EASA (Europe), and ANAC (Brazil) in 2018 and 2019.

Embraer conducted a recent network analysis in Malaysia, identifying substantial opportunities for airlines in the country to establish up to 120 new routes within Malaysia and the ASEAN region by leveraging the latest technology regional jets like the E2. These advanced jets offer the greatest fuel burn reductions and lowest costs, making it possible to operate new routes profitably. Embraer has a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, with close to 20 operators collectively utilizing approximately 200 E-Jets.

“Following our comprehensive assessment, CAAM is pleased to grant the type certification validation to Embraer’s E195-E2 and E190-E2 aircraft. We value Embraer’s spirit of collaboration towards our goal of instilling safety culture to ensure the highest level of safety, security and efficiency in Malaysian aviation industry,” said Captain Norazman Bin Mahmud, CEO, the Civil Authority of Malaysia.

Martyn Holmes, CCO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, praised CAAM’s certification of the E2, underscoring its significance for Embraer and the industry as a whole. The certification paves the way for the entry into service of the E195-E2 in Malaysia in 2024. Holmes highlighted the E2 family’s capabilities as an ideal complement to larger aircraft, enabling regional connectivity within Malaysia and beyond, while boasting exceptional fuel efficiency, minimal noise footprint, and outstanding passenger comfort.
