Embraer has signed a new long-term logistics support agreement with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) to provide comprehensive maintenance and sustainment services for its KC-390 Millennium fleet, reinforcing a longstanding partnership aimed at maximizing aircraft availability and mission readiness.
The agreement covers both aircraft currently in operation and future KC-390 deliveries, ensuring full lifecycle support for the fleet. The contract is designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve logistics performance, and maintain high levels of fleet readiness for one of Brazil’s most important military aviation assets.
Lieutenant-Brigadier Valter Malta, General Support Commander of the Brazilian Air Force, said the agreement reflects the FAB’s continued focus on operational preparedness and fleet availability.
“The signing of this Logistics Support Agreement reinforces the Brazilian Air Force’s commitment to operational readiness and fleet availability,” said Malta. “Through this contract, we will provide the maintenance and logistical sustainment required to support the KC-390 Millennium, which is a strategic asset for the country’s mobility, defense and rapid response capabilities.”
Malta added that the agreement would strengthen reliability, improve operational efficiency and ensure continuity for a programme that has become a global benchmark in military aviation.
Carlos Naufel, President and CEO of Embraer Services & Support, said the contract further strengthens Embraer’s long-standing relationship with the Brazilian Air Force.
“We are very pleased to sign this agreement with the FAB,” said Naufel. “This contract reinforces Embraer’s commitment to supporting the Brazilian Air Force with comprehensive, world-class solutions designed to maximize operational availability and efficiency across the KC-390 Millennium fleet.”
The support package includes component repair and overhaul services, spare parts supply, engineering support, technical publications and contingency assistance. The scope has been structured to provide greater operational predictability and enable rapid response to the Brazilian Air Force’s evolving requirements.
The KC-390 Millennium is regarded as one of the most advanced military transport aircraft in its category. Capable of carrying payloads of up to 26 tonnes, the aircraft combines high speed, long-range performance and operational flexibility. It can perform a wide range of missions, including troop and cargo transport, aerial delivery operations, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian assistance missions. The aircraft can also operate as both an aerial refueling tanker and receiver when equipped with the appropriate systems.
The KC-390 has gained significant international traction in recent years, with orders and selections from several countries, including Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Sweden, Slovakia, Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
The latest agreement highlights the growing importance of lifecycle support services in military aviation and underscores Embraer’s role in ensuring long-term operational readiness for one of the world’s most capable tactical airlift platforms.
