Embraer receives ANAC Clearance For E2 ETOPS-120 Operations
The ETOPS-120 capability is a testament to the design and maturity of the E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft systems.

Embraer has achieved the approval of 120-minute extended twin-engine operations (ETOPS) for its E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft models by ANAC, FAA, and EASA.

Embraer has achieved a significant milestone with the approval of 120-minute extended twin-engine operations (ETOPS) for its E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft models by Brazil’s Civil Aviation Authority ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This approval opens up opportunities for E2 operators to fly direct routes over water and remote areas, allowing for more efficient and direct flight paths that save both time and fuel.

The ETOPS-120 capability is a testament to the design and maturity of the E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft systems. ETOPS certification is granted based on the cumulative flying hours of the aircraft fleet in operation, showcasing the reliability and performance of the aircraft in long-range operations. Despite delays caused by the global pandemic, which led to a reduction in aircraft operations and flying hours, Embraer has successfully achieved this milestone.

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation said, “ETOPS is an important additional capability for the E2, and a key enabler for more sales, especially in Asia Pacific. Airlines flying routes with up to 120 minute diversion time will be able to use straighter, quicker and more fuel efficient routes, and have access to more diversion airports. ETOPS capability is a further optimisation of the E2, already the most fuel efficient aircraft in its segment.”

The approval of ETOPS-120 for the E190-E2 and E195-E2 underscores Embraer’s commitment to delivering innovative and reliable aircraft solutions to its customers. With this capability, E2 operators can expand their route networks and operate more efficiently, catering to the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
