Embraer delivers C-390 millennium to Hungarian Air Force
The C-390 Millennium boasts a payload capacity of 26 tons, exceeding that of other medium-sized military transport aircraft.

This delivery makes Hungary the second C-390 NATO operator, with the first in its class to feature a roll-on/roll-off Intensive Care Unit.

Embraer has delivered the inaugural C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force. This aircraft is distinguished as the first in its class to feature a roll-on/roll-off Intensive Care Unit, enhancing its capabilities for humanitarian and medical evacuation operations. The Hungarian C-390 is fully compliant with NATO standards, encompassing both its hardware and avionics and communications systems.

The C-390 Millennium fulfills the operational requirements of the Hungarian Defence Forces, providing versatile functionality across various military and civilian mission profiles. These include Medical Evacuation, Humanitarian Assistance, Search and Rescue, Cargo and Troop Transport, Precision Cargo Airdrop, Paratrooper Operations, and Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR).

The C-390 Millennium boasts a payload capacity of 26 tons, exceeding that of other medium-sized military transport aircraft. It achieves a maximum speed of 470 knots and extended operational range, capable of conducting a variety of missions including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian assistance. 

The aircraft can operate from temporary or unpaved airstrips. In its KC-390 configuration, equipped for air-to-air refueling, the aircraft can function both as a refueling tanker and a receiver, with the capability to refuel from another KC-390 via wing-mounted pods.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Minister of Defence of Hungary, commented, “The integration of this aircraft marks a significant advancement for the Hungarian Air Force, substantially augmenting our military air transport capabilities. Strengthening our defence forces with modern and well-equipped systems is crucial for Hungary’s security, and Embraer is a valued partner in this endeavor.”

Since its operational debut with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019 and the Portuguese Air Force in 2023, the C-390 has demonstrated its capacity, reliability, and performance. The operational fleet has accumulated over 14,000 flight hours, with a mission capable rate of 93% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%, underscoring its high productivity within its category.
