Elbit Systems secures $270 mn contracts for ISR and targeting payloads

Elbit Systems has signed contracts worth approximately $270 mn with an international customer to supply advanced intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and targeting payloads over a period of up to six years.

The contracts cover systems from Elbit Systems’ SPECTRO family of electro-optical ISR and targeting solutions. The payloads combine mid-wave infrared (MWIR), visible, and short-wave infrared (SWIR) imaging channels with laser designation and AI-based analytics.

The systems are designed for target identification, tracking, and long-range intelligence gathering across airborne, naval, and ground platforms. Their multi-spectral sensors support day-and-night operations and can be used in adverse weather conditions.

The agreement also includes AMPS NG systems for airborne ISR and targeting missions. These systems integrate MWIR, visible and SWIR sensors with image processing and geo-pointing technologies to provide long-range target acquisition, surveillance and target location capabilities.

For military aircraft operators and MRO organisations, the introduction of advanced ISR payloads can involve modifications to existing platform configurations. Integration may require changes to aircraft wiring, electrical power, data interfaces, mission computers, displays and equipment mounting provisions, followed by ground and flight testing and the applicable certification or airworthiness approvals.

Payload upgrades can also create additional requirements for inspection, calibration, software updates, and component support throughout the system’s service life.

Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems, said, “Elbit Systems is a global leader in the field of ISR & Targeting solutions, providing modern armed forces with a comprehensive portfolio of advanced capabilities designed to address a wide range of operational requirements. Through our innovative technologies, we enable customers to enhance situational awareness, intelligence gathering and mission effectiveness in today’s complex operational environments.”

The six-year programme will involve the supply of SPECTRO and AMPS NG systems, supporting the addition or upgrade of ISR and targeting capabilities on the customer’s platforms.
