EirTrade Aviation acquires Air Transat A330 for teardown to bolster parts availability

EirTrade Aviation has acquired an Airbus A330 previously operated by Air Transat, with the aircraft set to undergo teardown at the company’s AFRA-accredited disassembly facility at Knock, Ireland West Airport (NOC). The recovered components will be released into the aftermarket to support Airbus A330 operators and MRO providers facing continued demand for serviceable material.

The teardown comes as airlines increasingly rely on used serviceable material (USM) to overcome supply chain bottlenecks and parts shortages affecting widebody maintenance programmes. By recovering certified A330 components from end-of-life aircraft, EirTrade aims to provide faster access to replacement parts while helping operators reduce maintenance lead times and aircraft downtime.

The move further strengthens EirTrade’s growing A330 aftermarket capabilities at its Knock facility, where the company has expanded aircraft disassembly and maintenance services to support global customers. As supply chain constraints continue to influence widebody maintenance planning, strategically positioned teardown programmes are becoming an increasingly important source of reliable component availability for the A330 fleet.
