EFW secures seven-year NH90 helicopter maintenance contract from German Armed Forces

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) has secured a seven-year maintenance contract with the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) covering NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) operated by the German Army.

Under the agreement, the first batch of NH90 helicopters is expected to arrive at EFW’s Dresden facility shortly. The company will provide a range of maintenance services, including scheduled inspections, potential modifications and component repairs.

The contract expands EFW’s existing helicopter maintenance capabilities and reinforces the strategic importance of its Dresden site as a centre for military rotary-wing support.

EFW becomes direct Bundeswehr partner

The agreement marks the first time EFW will serve as a direct contractual partner to the Bundeswehr for NH90 maintenance. Previously, the company supported NH90 maintenance activities as a subcontractor.

The new arrangement strengthens EFW’s position in the German military helicopter maintenance market and could create opportunities for additional contracts in the future.

Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW, said the seven-year agreement provides the company with greater long-term planning certainty while creating growth opportunities.

According to Boto, the contract reflects EFW’s established maintenance expertise and performance, as well as its combination of available capacity and technical capabilities.

The NH90 contract adds to EFW’s growing role in military rotary-wing maintenance and is expected to support the company’s expansion in the defence MRO sector. With the first helicopters scheduled to arrive at Dresden shortly, EFW is preparing to begin work under the long-term agreement.
