EDM strengthens ANA partnership with Boeing 787 door trainer delivery

EDM Ltd has expanded its long-standing partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA) through the delivery and installation of a new Boeing 787 L1 Door Trainer at the airline’s ANA Blue Base training facility in Japan. The latest simulator enhances ANA’s cabin crew training capabilities and reinforces EDM’s position as a provider of advanced cabin crew training solutions.

The newly installed trainer joins a fleet of EDM-built training devices already in service at ANA, supporting cabin crew instruction at one of the airline’s principal training facilities. Designed and manufactured at EDM’s headquarters in Manchester, UK, the simulator provides a realistic training environment for cabin crews to practise Boeing 787 door operations under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.

The training device features a representative Boeing 787 L1 main exit door, cabin attendant seat, instructor operator station, digital sound system and integrated door control systems. Instructors can also introduce simulated faults and emergency scenarios, enabling crews to develop procedural accuracy and operational confidence in a controlled environment.

“ANA is pleased to have received our second B787 Door Trainer from EDM. This new trainer is an invaluable asset for our cabin crew to acquire the skills required for emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring the highest level of safety for our passengers,” said Kengo Hanaoka, Vice President of ANA.

The latest delivery builds on a long-standing relationship between EDM and ANA, with the airline continuing to invest in advanced cabin crew training equipment as it enhances operational readiness and safety standards.

James Bird, Head of Civil Aviation Sales at EDM, said the latest installation further reinforces the company’s partnership with the airline.

“This latest B787 DT adds to the large number of EDM Group training devices at ANA, which is particularly special. I’d like to sincerely thank ANA once again for their custom, and continued trust in EDM. We have developed an excellent business relationship over the years, built on mutual respect and a common goal of creating robust and reliable devices that deliver real training benefit,” Bird said.

EDM specialises in the design and manufacture of aircraft door trainers, cabin crew simulators and bespoke aviation training equipment for airlines, training organisations and aviation operators worldwide.

The delivery reflects continued investment across the aviation industry in high-fidelity simulation technologies that improve crew competence, support regulatory compliance and enhance emergency preparedness. As airlines modernise training programmes and expand fleet operations, advanced simulation equipment is playing an increasingly important role in maintaining safety and operational excellence.
