Duncan Aviation opens turbine engine overhaul facility to strengthen MRO capabilities

Duncan Aviation has officially inaugurated its expanded Turbine Engine Overhaul Shop at its headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term strategy to enhance its engine maintenance capabilities and support growing demand in the global MRO market.

The newly expanded facility, dedicated during a ceremony attended by state and local government leaders, aviation stakeholders and industry partners, represents a major infrastructure investment that will significantly increase Duncan Aviation’s turbine engine overhaul capacity while strengthening its position in the global business aviation MRO sector.

Designed to accommodate increasing engine maintenance requirements, the expansion builds on Duncan Aviation’s long-standing partnership with Pratt & Whitney. As a Pratt & Whitney Designated Overhaul Facility, the company expects the upgraded shop to enhance its ability to secure additional international engine overhaul work and provide expanded support to operators worldwide.

Todd Duncan, Chairman of Duncan Aviation, described the project as an investment in both the company’s future and the regional economy. “This facility represents a significant investment in our future,” he said. “It expands our capabilities, strengthens our engine service offerings, and positions us to better serve customers from across the country and around the world.”

The new overhaul facility incorporates advanced maintenance technologies and optimized workflows designed to improve operational efficiency and increase throughput for turbine engine maintenance. The investment also reinforces Duncan Aviation’s continued focus on expanding technical capabilities while supporting the evolving requirements of business aviation operators.

In addition to enhancing maintenance capacity, the project places a strong emphasis on workforce development. During the inauguration, guests toured Duncan Aviation’s Technical Education Center, where technicians are undergoing hands-on training to obtain their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certifications, highlighting the company’s commitment to developing the next generation of skilled aviation maintenance professionals.

The dedication ceremony was attended by Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, officials from the Lincoln Airport Authority, members of the Nebraska Legislature, and representatives from key project partners involved in the construction and engineering of the new facility.

The event also coincided with Duncan Aviation’s 70th anniversary celebrations. Guests received a commemorative challenge coin featuring four generations of the Duncan family, recognizing the company’s longstanding contribution to Nebraska’s aviation industry and its continued investment in local communities.

The expanded Turbine Engine Overhaul Shop further strengthens Duncan Aviation’s global engine MRO network and positions the company to meet increasing demand for high-quality engine maintenance, repair and overhaul services from customers across North America and international markets.
