The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has signed a contract for the acquisition of 12 new DA42-VI aircraft, which are expected to be delivered in 2024.

Diamond Aircraft has announced that Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a prestigious institution known for its aeronautical training programs, has chosen the DA42-VI for its fleet renewal to enhance multi-engine training at its Daytona Beach, Florida campus. The university has signed a contract for the acquisition of 12 new DA42-VI aircraft, which are expected to be delivered in 2024.

Diamond Aircraft’s partnership with Embry-Riddle has been longstanding, with the university being at the forefront of aeronautical training for decades. The DA42-VI, with its all-composite design, environmentally friendly and efficient jet fuel piston engines, and Garmin G1000 NXi glass cockpits, is well-suited to meet the university’s training needs.

“We are excited to extend our long-term use of Diamond DA42 Aircraft,” said Dr. Ken Byrnes, assistant dean and Flight chair of Aeronautical Science, Embry-Riddle. “Diamond’s commitment to the safety, quality and technological advancement of their aircraft align perfectly with our core values,” he further added.

The DA42-VI is the latest version of Diamond’s technology-leading light piston twin-engine aircraft. It stands out as the first certified general aviation piston aircraft to integrate modern technology airframe, avionics, and power plants. The aircraft’s unique combination of performance and utility makes it an ideal platform for transitioning from single to twin-engine operations, simplifying the training process for aspiring pilots.

One of the notable features of the DA42-VI is its jet fuel-powered engines, which contribute to significant fuel savings of up to 50% compared to conventional AVGAS-powered twins. This enhanced fuel efficiency not only reduces operational costs for the university but also aligns with a more environmentally sustainable approach to aviation.

“We are honored to further strengthen our longstanding relationship with Embry-Riddle, which has been at the leading edge of aeronautical training for decades. The DA42-VI with an all-composite design, proprietary environmentally friendly and efficient jet fuel piston engines as well as Garmin G1000 NXi glass cockpits are a perfect fit for them,” said Trevor Mustard, Head of Aircraft Sales and Marketing, Diamond Aircraft Canada.

Additionally, the DA42-VI boasts a panoramic canopy that provides excellent visibility during all flight maneuvers, enhancing the overall flight experience for both students and instructors. With its advanced technology and efficient design, the DA42-VI offers an exceptional training platform that aligns with Embry-Riddle’s commitment to providing the highest quality aviation education.
