DA62 MPP aircraft will be used for firefighting, search & rescue, and surveillance with advanced electro-optical systems and datalinks for efficient emergency response.

Diamond Aircraft to supply Greece with advanced DA62 MPP surveillance aircraft for emergency response and operations support

Diamond Aircraft has contracted with the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to supply three DA62 MPP aerial surveillance aircraft. The contract encompasses the three DA62 MPP special mission aircraft along with associated ground stations, training modules, spare parts provisioning, and subsequent support services. These aircraft will be utilized in firefighting and search & rescue operations as air operations centers and for aerial surveillance, using up-to-date electro-optical systems, a cell phone localization system, and various datalinks, enhancing Greece’s ability to manage and respond to emergencies efficiently.

Each aircraft will be outfitted with cutting-edge technology specifically designed to meet the requirements of aerial surveillance and emergency response operations. The configuration will include:

  • Trakka TC-375 EO/IR Camera delivers high-resolution imaging capabilities essential for precise monitoring and identification tasks.
  • Smith & Myers ARTEMIS Cell Phone Localization System enhances search and rescue operations by accurately pinpointing the locations of mobile devices.
  • CarteNav AIMS-ISR Mission Management System facilitates streamlined mission planning and execution processes.
  • Beyond Line-of-Sight Data Link enables near real-time transmission of data to and from the aircraft, ensuring continuous operational awareness.
  • 4G/5G Data Link ensures seamless real-time communication and data transfer capabilities.
  • Maritime VHF Radio supports comprehensive maritime communication coverage essential for operational effectiveness.

Diamond Aircraft anticipates the forthcoming delivery of three DA62 MPP special mission aircraft to support Greece in safeguarding its populace and natural assets. Completion of the delivery is slated for the conclusion of Q3/2025.
