The Diamond Aircraft DA62 MPP Special Mission Aircraft for the State of Qatar is equipped with state-of-the-art mission equipment from Riegl and Vexcel and was handed over to CGIS.

Diamond Aircraft Industries, in partnership with Khatib & Alami, has successfully delivered a Special Mission Aircraft to the State of Qatar. The aircraft, won through a tender in 2021, was handed over to CGIS (Center for Geographic Information Systems), the official geospatial agency in Qatar under the Ministry of Municipality. The delivery was completed within 12 months after the contract was signed, showcasing Diamond Aircraft’s efficiency and commitment to meeting timelines.

The Special Mission Aircraft is equipped with state-of-the-art mission equipment from Riegl and Vexcel. The suite includes a Riegl laser scanner 780II-S and a Vexcel Osprey 4.1 large format camera, providing advanced data collection capabilities. Additionally, there is an option to interchange the Vexcel Osprey camera with a Riegl 880-GII bathymetric sensor, offering flexibility for different mission requirements. All systems have been seamlessly integrated and civil certified by Diamond Aircraft in Austria.

“It’s an honor for me to welcome another MPP customer from Qatar to the Diamond Aircraft Special Mission Aircraft Family. With a brand-new DA62 MPP, CGIS is now capable to collect all the required data with their own asset. The DA62 MPP has proved its value already to customers in Europe and Asia, therefore we are very proud to finally have the first DA62 MPP Survey Star in the Middle East, with Qatar as a forerunner for modern aerial mapping solution,” said Benjamin Schuhmann, Sales Manager APAC & ME Special Mission Aircraft Division, Diamond Aircraft Austria.

The delivery of the DA62 MPP Survey Star to CGIS expands Diamond Aircraft’s Special Mission Aircraft Family and enhances CGIS’s capabilities to collect essential geospatial data using their own asset. With the aircraft’s advanced technology and Diamond Aircraft’s expertise, CGIS can fulfill their mapping and surveying requirements effectively.
