De Havilland Aircraft of Canada has secured certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its Twin Otter Classic 300-G, clearing the way for aircraft deliveries across Europe and other regions that recognise EASA certification.
The certification marks a significant milestone for the next-generation Twin Otter programme and has already led to the delivery of the first EASA-certified aircraft to Switzerland-based Zimex Aviation, where it has entered commercial service.
The Twin Otter Classic 300-G builds on more than five decades of operational experience while incorporating a range of modern enhancements aimed at improving reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency. The aircraft features the Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck, updated onboard systems, reduced empty weight and OEM-backed product support, while retaining the Twin Otter’s renowned short take-off and landing (STOL) performance and capability to operate in challenging environments.
“The Twin Otter has earned its reputation by operating reliably in some of the world’s most demanding environments,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales at De Havilland Canada. “Receiving EASA certification is an important milestone for the Classic 300-G and expands opportunities for operators across Europe and beyond. We’re especially pleased that the first EASA-certified aircraft is already flying with Zimex Aviation, demonstrating that the aircraft is delivering on its promise from day one.”
Zimex Aviation, the launch customer for the EASA-certified Twin Otter Classic 300-G, operates the aircraft across humanitarian missions, government support, cargo transport and special mission operations in remote regions worldwide.
Daniele Cereghetti, Chief Executive Officer of Zimex Aviation, said the new aircraft combines the proven capabilities of the Twin Otter with modern technology and improved operational efficiency.

“The Twin Otter has long been an important part of our fleet. The Classic 300-G builds on everything we value about the aircraft while adding modern technology and improved efficiency. We are proud to be the first operator flying the EASA-certified aircraft and look forward to putting it to work supporting our customers around the world,” he said.
The EASA approval expands the market reach of the Twin Otter Classic 300-G while strengthening De Havilland Canada’s aftermarket offering through OEM-supported maintenance, technical support and lifecycle services. The certification is also expected to support operators seeking a modern utility aircraft with enhanced maintainability, lower operating costs and long-term fleet support across commercial, government and special mission applications.
