Under new ownership Arcosjet, Cyprus Airways is keen to boost travel to the nation and has chosen AirFi as its wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) supplier.

Cyprus Airways is the most recent airline to equip its fleet of Airbus aircraft with wifi in-flight entertainment provided by airline technology vendor AirFi. With new planes on the horizon and a pledge to be a driving force behind the increase of tourism on the island, the recently revived flag carrier of Cyprus is preparing for fleet and route extensions. The airline is implementing AirFi’s portable wireless streaming solutions on its all-Airbus fleet, which consists of two A320 and two A220 aircraft, as part of its emphasis on innovation and customer service. In the near future, it will also try to outfit newly acquired aircraft with AirFi’s goods.

Passengers will be able to access digital entertainment on their personal electronic devices, such as movies, TV games, music, a moving map, and destination-based video material, thanks to the two AirFi boxes that will be installed in each aircraft. Thanks to a quick rollout by the AirFi team, Cyprus Airlines will be able to enjoy the holiday season with AirFi’s streaming in-flight entertainment option.

Paul Sies, Cyprus Airways’ CEO said, “We are highly impressed by the range of functionality offered by AirFi’s intuitive wireless in-flight entertainment and in-seat ordering solutions. We needed something scalable to suit our ambitious growth plans and provide a hassle-free travel experience that serves all our guests needs. We’re looking forward to having AirFi along the flight to the success of Cyprus Airways.”

It’s exciting that Cyprus Airways has decided to add Dance24, an AirFi channel, to its lineup of entertainment options. The channel, which specialises in electronic dance music, is ideal for a substantial portion of the airline’s target audience that will be visiting and departing from the nation’s music festivals and party hotspots, such Ayia Napa.

These kinds of distinctive elements will support the airline’s positioning as a premium brand while simultaneously giving customers enjoyable, easily accessible in-flight experiences.

Job Heimerikx, AirFi’s CEO, said, “We’re honoured that the flag carrier of Cyprus has selected AirFi as a cornerstone in its plans to level-up the onboard experience. And personally, I’m delighted to be working with Cyprus Airways’ CEO, Paul Sies, whose achievements I very much admire. With the addition of the A220, our products have now been deployed across every aircraft in the Airbus family. This proves that our offering is truly versatile, and the benefits that come with it are indiscriminate of the type of airline using them.”

The second stage of the rollout will see the activation of in-seat ordering. Through a seamless integration, passengers will be able to use their mobile devices to place orders from Cyprus Airways’ in-flight menu utilising AirFi’s technology and the crew’s mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution.
