Croatia Airlines welcomes first Airbus A220-300 into fleet
The A220 will mark a significant technological advancement for Croatia Airlines, offering a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat compared to earlier-generation aircraft.

Croatia Airlines will acquire 5 A220 aircraft, comprising 13 A220-300s and 2 A220-100s for its fleet modernization program.

Croatia Airlines has received its first Airbus A220-300 aircraft at the Airbus Mirabel facility. This delivery is part of the airline’s fleet modernization program, which involves the acquisition of 15 A220 aircraft, comprising 13 A220-300s and 2 A220-100s. This initial delivery signifies the commencement of the integration of these next-generation aircraft into the airline’s operational fleet.

The introduction of the A220 marks a significant technological advancement for Croatia Airlines, offering a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat compared to earlier-generation aircraft. This acquisition represents the largest fleet modernization project in the airline’s history, coinciding with its 35th anniversary this year.

The A220 is capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF compatibility for its entire fleet by 2030. This aircraft will play a crucial role in reducing operating costs and minimizing the environmental impact for Croatia Airlines.

The A220 integrates cutting-edge aerodynamics, advanced materials, and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation GTF engines, complemented by an innovative cabin design that offers superior passenger comfort. With the widest seats, largest windows, and most spacious bins in its class, the A220 also provides a 50% reduction in noise footprint compared to previous-generation aircraft and approximately 40% lower NOx emissions than industry standards. These attributes make the A220 an optimal choice for supporting Croatia Airlines’ gradual network expansion while maintaining high-quality service.
