Collins Aerospace to support easyJet efficiency with GlobalConnect solution

Collins Aerospace to support easyJet efficiency with GlobalConnect solution.
When implemented across the entire fleet, easyJet estimates that removing this extra weight could save up to 500 tonnes of carbon annually.

The Collins Aerospace GlobalConnect capability will enhance safety oversight, pilot training and operational efficiencies of easyJet’s Airbus fleet.

easyJet and Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, are collaborating in order to enable GlobalConnectSM connected aircraft services on more than 330 Airbus aircraft in its fleet. With the implementation of GlobalConnect, easyJet will emerge as the world’s largest operator of A320s. Pilot training, safety oversight, and operational efficiency are all improved by this new capability.

With the help of the Collins GlobalConnect solution, easyJet can make more informed decisions and run its airline more effectively thanks to the installed Flight Operations and Maintenance Exchanger system (FOMAX), which was developed in collaboration with Airbus.

Jane Ashton, director of Sustainability, easyJet said, “We are constantly seeking innovative solutions that enable our aircraft to be more connected. “Collins’ GlobalConnect is one of the many initiatives we will use to drive operational efficiencies across our fleet and to help reduce our emissions.”

The avionics architecture may be made simpler by implementing this data exchange and analytics capability, which could eventually result in the gradual removal of quick access recorders and additional fuel efficiency gains. When implemented across the entire fleet, the airline estimates that removing this extra weight could save up to 500 tonnes of carbon annually.

Jen Schopfer, president of Connected Aviation Solutions, Collins Aerospace said, “The FOMAX system in conjunction with GlobalConnect is designed to empower airlines with comprehensive data-driven insights, allowing them to enhance their operations and passenger experience.”

In the upcoming months, easyJet’s fleet-wide GlobalConnect services will be gradually enabled, beginning prior to the end of 2023. This is a major turning point in easyJet’s digital transformation journey and demonstrates the airline’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies that help both the environment and its customers.
