Collins Aerospace will be serving as a contractor to PTDI and will provide its trademark Flight2 aftermarket avionics solution for the Indonesian Air Force C-130 aircraft.

Collins Aerospace along with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has announced the commencement of an agreement to modernize the C-130 military transport aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force. The upgrade is as part of the Phase 2 rollout plan, and eleven C-130 aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force will be upgraded. Collins Aerospace will be serving as a contractor to PTDI and will provide its trademark Flight2 aftermarket avionics solution. The solution, according to Collins Aerospace, delivers the most cost-effective and lowest-risk CNS/ATM upgrade solution.

Collins Aerospace, as part of the upgrade, will leverage its Flight2 Mobility Mission Application (MMA) architecture, which will allow the customers to select from a superset of off-the-shelf capabilities. Customers using the Collins Aerospace MMA architecture can tailor the system to meet specific mission requirements, comply with regional communications navigation surveillance/air traffic management mandates, or simply maximize capabilities for a given budget.

“Modernizing to the Flight2 system provides the Indonesian Air Force with a suite of communications, navigation and surveillance equipment seamlessly integrates new-generation avionics with legacy sensors, radios, autopilot and aircraft systems that will increase operational and mission efficiency” said Martin Hoare, Director, Global Business Development, Military Avionics & Helicopters. “Included in the avionics upgrade is a full glass cockpit with new primary flight displays that provides commonality to many other C-130 users as well as commercial aircraft,” he further added.

Flight2 transforms a federated analog system into a modern digital glass cockpit. Flight2 delivers the most advanced capabilities available currently, equipped with its advanced displays and integrated military/civil flight management system which includes the required navigation performance, area navigation flight management system with high altitude release point, and computed air release point precision airdrop software. At the same time, it’s the most cost-effective and lowest-risk CNS/ATM upgrade solution.

“This collaboration shows PTDI’s readiness to implement the work of the Indonesian Air Force’s C-130 modernization program, especially in the avionics upgrade” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director, PTDI.

By upgrading to Flight2 the C-130H jet will comply with the most recent International Civil Aviation Organization standards, while also equipping it with a tactical advantage in military operations.
