China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) has entered into a new partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) by signing lease agreements for two Airbus A320neo aircraft, marking the lessor’s first collaboration with the flag carrier and expanding its footprint in West Asia.
The two next-generation narrowbody aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027 and will support AZAL’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernization programme.
The agreement adds Azerbaijan Airlines to CALC’s growing global customer base and reinforces the company’s strategy of providing tailored aircraft leasing solutions to airlines seeking to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
The Airbus A320neo family offers improved fuel efficiency, lower operating costs and reduced carbon emissions, making it a key component of airlines’ fleet renewal strategies.
Winnie Liu, president and CCO of CALC, welcomed the new partnership, saying the transaction reflects the company’s commitment to supporting airline customers with customized aircraft solutions while building long-term relationships.
“We are pleased to establish a new partnership with AZAL and to support its fleet expansion plans,” Liu said. “This transaction once again reflects CALC’s commitment to providing tailored aircraft solutions and building long-term relationships with the global leading airline customers worldwide.”
AZAL said the addition of the Airbus A320neo aircraft represents an important milestone in its long-term fleet modernization strategy.
Mirjafar Jafarov, CEO Advisor at AZAL, said the partnership with CALC supports the airline’s commitment to operational excellence and future growth.
“The addition of the Airbus A320neo aircraft represents a significant strategic milestone in our fleet modernization journey,” Jafarov said. “We are pleased to partner with CALC on this transaction, which reflects our shared commitment to operational excellence and supports our long-term growth ambitions as we continue to strengthen AZAL’s position in the regional and international aviation markets.”
The agreement highlights continued demand for fuel-efficient aircraft as airlines invest in modern fleets to improve performance, reduce emissions and meet growing passenger demand.
