Broward Aviation Services (BAS) has acquired a CFM56-5A engine with long LLP life remaining for teardown in an attempt to increase its engine asset base. The engine disassembly is almost complete with all the components undergoing overhaul at special repair shops in US, Europe and Aisa.

“We are currently looking to invest in further engines for part-out – particularly CFM56, V2500-A5s and CF6-80s,” said Dennis Amaty, co-founder and president, BAS. “We anticipate the first integration of the parts into our stock hubs in the USA and Ireland later this month. We’re working with MROs, repair shops and airlines who are keen to support their engine capabilities with access to quality
engines and parts.”

Anca Mihalache, managing director of AERO CARE asserted that access to flexible and immediate funding to take advantage of engine acquisitions is crucial in today’s market. Mihalache is supporting BAS as they strategically expand their engine parts portfolio and is responsible for sourcing assets, managing the disassembly and coordinating repairs.

“Finding partners with the confidence and ability of BAS to close deals of this type is of paramount importance in today’s highly competitive aftermarket,” Mihalache added.

BAS is further targeting more acquisitions to support its ambitious business plans to tear down three more assets in 2024, another four to five aircraft in 2025 and 2026. BAS claims that this will augment their expanding spare parts division, including a new facility which is about to open in Shannon, Ireland, and will comprise the complete array of overhauled components including LLPs, fan blades, HPT and HPC blades.”

Speaking about the recent teardown, Amaty said that: “The acquisition of this CFM56-5A is important for our portfolio as we develop our capabilities and build our reputation as a strong and reliable partner for our narrow body customers in the aviation industry.”

Excited to collaborate with BAS as they turn their attention to engine components, Mihalache added that “As a Company they have built a solid foundation over the past 25 years and can be distinguished by their focus on quality and accuracy. They have a reputation as the ‘go to’ supplier for general aircraft parts and we will extend that to engine components with this new directive.”
