Bombardier posts strong Q2 performance with record backlog and improved cash flow

Bombardier reported a strong financial performance for the second quarter of 2026, recording higher revenues, improved profitability and a substantial increase in free cash flow as demand for its business jets continued to strengthen.

The company generated revenues of US$2.15 billion during the quarter, representing a 6% year-on-year increase, supported by growth in both aircraft deliveries and aftermarket services. Bombardier’s services business reached a record US$674 million in revenue, up 14% compared with the same period last year, highlighting the continued expansion of its maintenance, repair and support operations.

“Our impressive quarter demonstrates the power of a team executing its plan at the top of their game with the right strategy. Our profitability growth, record services revenue and robust free cash flow are all rooted in the quality of our team and their collective commitment to our customers,” said Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier. He adds, “The Global 8000 aircraft continues to perform at the top of its category in the skies and in the order books, reinforcing our leadership in business aviation. As our Defense business continues to expand in parallel, we remain focused on delivering convenience and care to our customers no matter what platforms they fly around the world. Their continued confidence in our products, services and people is reflected in our expanding backlog, giving us a solid foundation for sustained growth.”

One of the quarter’s key achievements was the significant improvement in free cash flow. Bombardier reported positive free cash flow of US$228 million, compared with a cash outflow of US$164 million in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting stronger operational execution, disciplined cost management and healthy customer demand.

The manufacturer also continued to build its order book during the quarter. With a book-to-bill ratio of 1.5, Bombardier’s backlog increased by US$4.3 billion since the end of 2025 to reach a record US$21.8 billion as of June 30, 2026. The expanding backlog underscores sustained market demand, particularly for the company’s flagship Global business jet family, including the Global 8000.

Bombardier delivered 32 aircraft during the quarter, slightly lower than the 36 aircraft delivered in the corresponding period last year. The company attributed the decline to ongoing supply chain challenges affecting the availability of engines and other key components but maintained that it remains on track to meet its full-year delivery targets.

The strong quarterly results reflect Bombardier’s continued focus on operational efficiency, expanding its high-margin services business and strengthening its business jet portfolio. With record backlog levels and improved cash generation, the company is well positioned to support future production while meeting growing customer demand across global markets.
