BNDES to finance up to 19 Embraer E195-E2 for Porter Airlines

Porter Aviation Holdings, the parent company of Porter Airlines, has secured financing from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) for the acquisition of up to 19 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, supporting deliveries scheduled through December 2030.

The financing package, backed by export credit insurance from Brazil’s Export Credit Guarantee Fund (FGE), covers aircraft from Porter’s existing firm order of 75 E195-E2 jets. The Canadian carrier has already inducted 54 E195-E2 aircraft into its fleet, with three of the earlier deliveries also financed through BNDES.

Porter introduced the Embraer E195-E2 into commercial service in 2023 as part of its fleet modernisation programme. The next-generation narrowbody has since become the backbone of the airline’s network expansion across Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, supporting its premium economy-focused business model.

The continued induction of E195-E2 aircraft is expected to generate sustained demand for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), component support, engine services and spare parts throughout the fleet’s operational lifecycle, creating long-term opportunities for Embraer’s global aftermarket network.

Commenting on the financing, Aloizio Mercadante, President of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), said the agreement strengthens Embraer‘s presence in the North American market while encouraging the adoption of advanced, fuel-efficient aircraft technology with lower emissions.

The financing underscores Brazil’s continued support for Embraer’s international sales and reinforces confidence in the E195-E2 programme as airlines continue to invest in next-generation aircraft that offer improved operating efficiency and long-term maintenance benefits.
