BermudAir is set to become the first operator of Embraer’s E190F freighter in the Americas, with the Bermuda-based airline leasing one converted aircraft from Regional One.
The aircraft will make BermudAir the second E190F operator worldwide. Regional One has placed five firm orders for E190F conversions, with two aircraft already delivered and in service.
BermudAir currently operates two E175s and two E190s on a network covering ten destinations across the Caribbean, the US and Canada. The E190F will allow the airline to add cargo operations alongside its existing passenger services.
Adam Scott, Founder and CEO of BermudAir, said, “Cargo is a natural next step for us. We’ve built a reliable, right-sized operation connecting Bermuda and the Caribbean to North America, and the E190F lets us put that same network to work moving express cargo and supporting local businesses, e-commerce, and time-sensitive freight across the islands we serve. It’s an exciting expanded line of business for BermudAir, and one that builds directly on the operational strengths we’ve already established.”
The E190F is converted from the passenger E190 platform and uses the aircraft’s existing airframe and systems for freighter operations. Embraer says the aircraft provides more than 100 cubic metres of cargo volume and up to 13.5 tonnes of payload.
The E-Freighter programme is designed to position the E190F between smaller turboprop freighters and larger narrowbody cargo aircraft, using the existing E-Jet platform to support cargo operations from regional airports.
George Mamangakis, Chief Investment Officer at Regional One, stated, “We are excited to welcome BermudAir as the second operator of the Embraer E190F and the first E-Freighter operator in the Americas. As an innovative and rapidly growing airline, BermudAir is an excellent partner to help showcase the versatility and value of the E-Freighter platform. This milestone represents another important step in the continued growth of the E190 P2F program, and we look forward to expanding the global operator base and bringing these highly capable aircraft to customers in markets around the world.”
For maintenance providers, the E190F’s entry into a new market expands the installed base of converted E-Jets requiring cargo-specific inspections, structural maintenance, component support and parts supply alongside the maintenance requirements common to the E190 platform.

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted, “BermudAir’s selection of the E190F marks an important milestone for the E-Freighter program as the aircraft enters service in North America and the Caribbean for the first time. As one of the region’s fastest-growing airlines, BermudAir is expanding beyond passenger operations and unlocking new opportunities in the air cargo market. The addition of another operator underscores the strong value proposition of the E-Freighter, which was designed to address a unique gap in the cargo market with the right combination of payload, volume, range and efficiency.”
The BermudAir aircraft will add another operator to the growing E190F programme and establish the type’s first operational presence in the Americas.
