VivaAerobus, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost airline, operates the youngest Latin Americanfleet with 79 Airbus jets, including 45 Airbus A320 and 34 Airbus A321.

With Donecle’s drone solution by Barfield, Viva Aerobus will conduct both indoor and outdoor aircraft inspections on the Airbus A320 fleet and provide training for their operators.

Barfield Inc., a subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) in the Americas, has entered into an agreement with Viva Aerobus to provide Donecle’s Drone Solution for Airbus A320 fleet inspections. Barfield has been the official distributor of Donecle’s drones in the Americas for almost three years. With Donecle’s drone solution, Viva Aerobus can conduct both indoor and outdoor aircraft inspections and provide training for their operators. This approach to aircraft inspections represents a significant milestone in the digitalization of their maintenance activities.

Viva Aerobus will benefit from Donecle’s unique and cutting-edge technology, which accelerates maintenance processes, improves efficiency, enhances inspection reliability, and simplifies traceability analysis through its data storage service.

Donecle, a French company specializing in inspection drones, provides an innovative solution that incorporates an autonomous drone designed to perform inspections without a pilot and GPS. Their solution includes a drone and a software suite that allows for mission assignment and employs advanced artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to detect aircraft skin damage and defects directly from a tablet interface.

This contract signifies a new step in the vision of Barfield and Donecle to enhance the efficiency and safety of aircraft maintenance operations. Barfield will provide support and service for Viva Aerobus.

Barfield, with 400 employees across its facilities in Miami, Phoenix, Louisville, and Atlanta, serves the needs of customers operating commercial or regional fleets in North, Central, and South America. They offer complete tailor-made support programs for various aircraft, including the A320 family, Boeing 737, Bombardier, Dash 8, ATR 42 & 72, and Embraer 170 & 190. Barfield is part of the AFI KLM E&M network, a major MRO provider.
