BAE Systems secures support contracts worth £80 million from Eurofighter avionics.
The aim of BAE Systems is to further ensure that the Typhoon fighter jet is ready for deployment at all times.

The Typhoon jet support agreements will secure ongoing service and repairs provided by BAE Systems for key avionics equipment like displays, flight controls, and Helmet Mounted Displays.

BAE Systems, a British aerospace company and the largest defence contractor in Europe, has announced that the company will continue to provide support services to the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft’s avionics for the platform’s founding nations’ air forces in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Italy. The Typhoon fighter jet support agreements, which are worth £80 million, secure ongoing service and repairs provided by BAE Systems for key avionics equipment such as displays, flight controls, and Helmet Mounted Displays.

The aim of BAE Systems is to further ensure that the Typhoon fighter jet is ready for deployment at all times. The support contract is signed for five years. Eurofighter is Europe’s largest defence programme. In addition to technological capabilities, the programme provides employment opportunities to more than 100,000 engineers and other professionals in Europe. At present, 681 Eurofighter aircraft have been sold to nine nations.

“BAE Systems’ avionics service and support team helps our customers ensure that Typhoon is ready to secure our skies and support the UK’s international allies 24/7, 365 days a year,” said Jim Whittington, senior project manager at Rochester, UK facility, BAE Systems. The flexibility within these services will help increase our customers’ flying capability, whereby we are able to meet any additional service demands,” he further added.

Avionics service and support according to BAE Systems is a core focus for the company’s facility in Rochester, UK. The integrated team based at RAF Coningsby is embedded into the Typhoon Total Availability Enterprise contract. The team worked closely to troubleshoot and undertake repairs for the Typhoon fighter jet. Their guaranteed turnaround times allow the customer to accurately plan aircraft operations.
