Bohai Leasing has approved the acquisition of 11 Airbus A321neo aircraft through its wholly owned aircraft leasing subsidiary, Avolon Holdings Limited, in a move aimed at expanding its fleet portfolio and strengthening its presence in the global aircraft leasing market. The transaction received unanimous approval from Bohai Leasing’s board of directors during an extraordinary meeting held on June 30, 2026.
The aircraft, currently on order with Frontier Airlines, have a combined Airbus 2018 catalogue value of approximately US$1.425 bn. However, Bohai Leasing noted that the final transaction price remains confidential in accordance with the agreement between the parties.
Deliveries of the 11 A321neo aircraft are scheduled to take place between November 2026 and June 2027.
Frontier Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontier Group Holdings, operates one of the largest Airbus narrowbody fleets in North America. According to Bohai Leasing’s filing, Frontier Group generated US$3.724 billion in revenue in 2025 while reporting a net loss of US$137 million.
Bohai Leasing said the acquisition will further expand Avolon’s aircraft order book, enhancing its ability to provide flexible fleet solutions to airline customers worldwide. The company added that the transaction is expected to strengthen Avolon’s competitiveness in the global aircraft leasing industry while supporting its long-term growth strategy.
The company also stated that the acquisition is not expected to have a material adverse impact on Bohai Leasing’s financial position or operating performance.
