Aviation Technology launches dedicated aircraft interiors division

Aviation Technology has expanded its business aviation services portfolio with the launch of Aviation Technology Interiors, a dedicated aircraft interiors division established through the acquisition of a fully operational turnkey interiors facility at Anderson Municipal Airport (AID) in Anderson, Indiana.

The new division represents one of the company’s most significant strategic investments and serves as its flagship growth initiative as Aviation Technology celebrates its 25th anniversary. The expansion strengthens the company’s ability to offer comprehensive maintenance and refurbishment services while improving convenience, efficiency and quality for business aviation customers.

The acquisition enables Aviation Technology to provide complete aircraft interior refurbishment alongside maintenance, inspection and heavy maintenance services performed at its headquarters at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF). By coordinating interior upgrades with scheduled maintenance events, customers can complete multiple projects simultaneously, reducing aircraft downtime and improving operational efficiency.

The move also extends Aviation Technology’s presence into the Indianapolis market, expanding its regional service capabilities while supporting job creation and continued investment in skilled aviation professionals.

Aviation Technology Interiors will operate from a purpose-built 10,000-square-foot facility equipped for aircraft refurbishment and cabin customisation. The acquisition included the fully operational business, comprising production equipment, specialised tooling, woodworking facilities, a dedicated paint booth for aircraft interior component refinishing, finishing equipment, inventory and other operational assets, allowing the company to begin serving customers immediately.

Rather than developing an interiors business from scratch, Aviation Technology chose to acquire an established operation with proven infrastructure and an experienced workforce, enabling a faster entry into the market.

The new division will be led by General Manager Gary Lykins, an aircraft interiors specialist with 19 years of industry experience. He is joined by a team of skilled professionals with nearly 50 years of combined expertise in aircraft cabin refurbishment.

The team will provide a broad range of interior services, including complete cabin refurbishments, custom upholstery, cabinetry, wood veneer work, interior restoration and bespoke cabin customisation tailored to business aviation operators.

Commenting on the launch, Aviation Technology president Kelly Boyer said the expansion reflects the company’s long-term commitment to investing in its future while enhancing customer value.

Boyer said combining world-class aircraft interiors with the company’s established maintenance and inspection services creates a true one-stop aviation solution, enabling customers to improve quality, increase efficiency and minimise aircraft downtime.
