AVi8 Airways has announced its launch, unveiling plans to establish a new aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI), charter and cargo airline platform in Southeast Asia, with commercial operations expected to begin in May 2027.
Headquartered in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the airline will provide ACMI services, passenger and cargo charter operations, scheduled passenger flights and aircraft management across the Asia-Pacific region. Initial operations will focus on Cambodia and Vietnam, with primary hubs at Phnom Penh International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
The airline is led by aviation executive Ed Wegel, who brings more than four decades of airline leadership experience. He will be supported by a management team based in Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the company, AVi8 Airways Asia will serve as the foundation for a broader global airline platform, with the long-term goal of developing a scalable ACMI and charter operation to meet growing regional demand.
The airline’s initial fleet will comprise Airbus A321 converted freighters alongside passenger aircraft, enabling it to provide flexible aviation solutions for airlines, governments, tour operators and corporate customers.
AVi8 Airways said it aims to become a leading ACMI and charter operator in the Asia-Pacific region while supporting the continued expansion of Southeast Asia’s rapidly growing aviation market.
