Avation delivers first ATR 72-600 to Finnair

Avation has delivered the first of two ATR 72-600 aircraft to Finnair under a six-year lease agreement. The second aircraft is scheduled for delivery in September 2026.

Both aircraft are owned by Avation and are being transitioned to Finnair as part of the leasing arrangement. The lease for the first aircraft has now commenced.

The aircraft transition provides Finnair with additional ATR 72-600 capacity while allowing Avation to place the aircraft with a new operator following the previous leasing arrangement.

Jeff Chatfield, Executive Chairman of Avation PLC, said: “We are pleased to have delivered the first aircraft to Finnair, Finland’s flag carrier and one of the world’s most established airlines. Finnair is also a member of The oneworld Alliance.

“This delivery supports Avation’s strategy of diversifying its customer base. When aircraft are returned by lessees, or otherwise require transition, Avation conducts a careful and broad marketing process to identify suitable opportunities with a diversified range of lessees.”

The second ATR 72-600 is expected to enter Finnair’s fleet in September, completing the two-aircraft lease placement.
