Astronics introduces APMARS and APDT to support component MRO

Astronics introduces APMARS and APDT to support component MRO.
This integration tackles obsolescence issues, and addresses life cycle sustainment needs within a single, unified system.

The addition of APMARS and APDT enables Astronics Corporation Astronics’ PinPoint hardware and TestVue software to automate test and diagnostic capabilities.

Astronics Corporation, a leading provider of advanced technologies for aerospace, defense, and other critical industries, has unveiled its ATS-AutoPoint Multi-Axis Robotic System (APMARS) and ATS-AutoPoint Desktop (APDT). These systems offer automated diagnostics for circuit board assembly and component malfunctions, enhancing speed and accuracy. The addition of flying probe technology enables Astronics’ PinPoint hardware and TestVue software to automate test and diagnostic capabilities. This integration addresses complex circuit card diagnostic and test requirements, tackles obsolescence issues, and addresses life cycle sustainment needs within a single, unified system.

Tim Webb, Senior Director of Sales at Astronics Test Systems said, “Maintenance and troubleshooting of critical electronics requires investigation at the component level, and our PinPoint solutions enable our customers to quickly analyze systems and identify issues to develop maintenance solutions well past defined support lives. Our next-generation ATS-APMARS provides complete automation of this process with dual flying probe robotics. This eliminates errors, reduces test time, and increases system availability, providing greater confidence in test outcomes and required maintenance and support actions.”

ATS-APMARS:

The ATS-APMARS is designed to automate circuit board diagnostics and schematic generation with a dual-headed robotic probe. This setup reduces human errors and system downtime.

Astronics’ PinPoint hardware allows for the maintenance and repair of electronic assemblies, even in cases where technical data is unavailable, such as with obsolete or aging systems with little to no original equipment manufacturer (OEM) support. The full automation of the PinPoint system on ATS-APMARS and ATS-APDT eliminates human errors associated with mis-probing while significantly reducing probing process time and the number of touches per pin.

ATS-APDT:

The ATS-APDT is a desktop system equipped with a single robotic probe, delivering fast and accurate measurements. If the application demands more extensive fault coverage, the system can be scaled to include a second probe, similar to the ATS-APMARS. Both systems can also be equipped with an optional custom cabinet to house the PinPoint hardware or selected third-party instrumentation.
