“ADE is jewel in the crown of Capital A – Tony Fernandes, CEO, Capital A”

Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) achieved an important milestone recently with the completion of its 100th C-Check with just under 2.5 years since inception qualifying Asia Digital Engineering to be our MRO of the Month.

When the world was celebrating the International Civil Aviation Day on December 7, 2023, the team at Asia Digital Engineering hangar in Kuala Lumpur had other reason to celebrate. The team had just achieved a remarkable milestone of completing its 100th C Check in record time.

Asia Digital Engineering is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capital A Berhad for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and was established in September 2020.

C-Check is a comprehensive maintenance inspection that ensures the airworthiness and safety of an aircraft and demands extensive tooling, test equipment, and special skill levels. It is recognized as heavy check involving maintenance procedures for critical aircraft components and systems.

Thanking the entire team of Asia Digital Engineering, Mahesh Kumar, chief executive said: “Our team has demonstrated exceptional skill, professionalism, and resilience in accomplishing this remarkable feat.”

ADE claims that this achievement underscored their unwavering commitment to upholding top-notch safety and operational standards in aviation maintenance and consequently positioning ADE as a leading MRO player in the region.

Feeling extremely proud of the steadfast dedication, relentless efforts, and unyielding commitment of the entire ADE team, Kumar further added that in our pursuit of excellence in aircraft maintenance we truly believe we are on the path to cementing our position as the leading MRO service provider in Asean, delivering the best value at lowest cost with high efficiency across the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

Joining Kumar in congratulating the ADE engineering, Tony Fernandes, chief executive, Capital A praised ADE saying that it is the jewel in the crown for Capital A. The progress of ADE is also reflected in the recently published third quarter results with ADE balance sheets closing at 107% year-on-year (YoY) profit and a revenue of RM165million and an EBITDA of RM42.8 million, up 117% YoY.

Driven by increased flight activity for AirAsia Group and third-party airlines, ADE saw a 58% rise in base maintenance checks. The third-party revenue of ADE in quarter three of 2023 (Q3) accounted for nearly 5% of the total revenue. The company attributes this rise to the near-complete reactivation of the AirAsia fleet, providing ADE with additional capacity to cater to third-party airlines.

Going ahead, ADE’s maintenance service slots are fully booked until September 2024, reflecting strong market presence and customer confidence, which bodes well with ADE’s expansion plans in the future.

As part of its expansion strategy, ADE is strategically increasing its facilities footprint with a new hangar at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), set to be operational by the third quarter of 2024. This new hangar is set to significantly bolster base maintenance capacity, accommodating up to 14 narrowbodies simultaneously. Additionally, expansion plans include advancing line maintenance operations in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia in 2024.

Fernandes further went on to appreciate the efforts of ADE and expressed faith in ADE becoming one of the world’s best MRO service providers given its vast experience and knowledge from working with AirAsia and now also with third-party airlines.

“It has the potential to grow further as it expands its offerings by bringing digital solutions and data science into MRO, offering predictive maintenance and spare parts management.” Fernandes concluded.

ADE’s dedication to maintaining the utmost quality and safety standards in aircraft MRO is emphasised by a string of milestones. Among these achievements stands the recent attainment of the EASA Part 145 approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) complementing an extensive array of existing maintenance certifications and authorisations.

ADE has earned customer trust through enduring relationships, glowing testimonials, and partnerships with airlines across the region. Looking ahead, ADE is focused on its vision to continually deliver exceptional services, expand capabilities, and remain at the forefront of MRO industry.
