Ampaire Inc., a company in hybrid electric aircraft systems, has made a significant move in the electrification of aviation by acquiring substantially all of the assets of Talyn Air Inc., a developer of novel electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft systems. This strategic acquisition is expected to accelerate Ampaire’s growth and leadership in the electrification of aviation while expanding its presence in attractive adjacent markets.

The acquisition of Talyn brings several advantages to Ampaire’s business. It enables the company to expand into the defense, drone, and eVTOL markets, which hold promising opportunities for both commercial and defense applications. Additionally, Ampaire will gain access to eight patents and seven government contracts with sole-source follow-on rights, bolstering its intellectual property and contracts portfolio.

Ampaire is known for its pioneering hybrid electric propulsion systems, which have flown over 18,000 miles, making it the industry leader in terms of hybrid electric flight time. The company has successfully integrated these systems into general aviation and regional turboprop commercial aircraft.

“Adding Talyn to Ampaire’s already strong technical foundation in hybrid electric propulsion will be immediately accretive to revenue growth and allow the company to accelerate our reach into the valuable drone and eVTOL sectors for both commercial and defense applications,” said Kevin Noertker, CEO, Ampaire. “Growth through acquisitions of companies and assets is a key part of our long-term strategy to become the industry leader in electrified aviation. Through this expanded portfolio of technology and programs, we will be well-positioned to offer customers the most experienced hybrid electric propulsion capabilities in the industry across drones, fixed wing, and eVTOL,” he further added.

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Talyn has been at the forefront of developing advanced aircraft technologies. The company has demonstrated its expertise in flight and established strong relationships with commercial and government customers. Its program awards span multiple Department of Defense entities, showcasing its innovations in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) drones, rapid deployment capabilities, and partnerships with Agility Prime, the Air Force’s transformative vertical lift program.

“We founded Talyn with a vision for advancing aviation, transforming the way we fly, and evolving toward a greener future,” explained Jamie Gull, CEO, Talyn. “We are excited that our technology and vision, combined with Ampaire’s industry-leading solutions, will provide game-changing capabilities to the aviation industry,” he further added.

The combination of Talyn’s vision and technology with Ampaire’s industry-leading solutions is expected to bring game-changing capabilities to the aviation industry. With the added expertise and expanded technology portfolio, Ampaire aims to offer customers the most experienced hybrid electric propulsion capabilities in the industry, covering drones, fixed-wing aircraft, and eVTOL.
