Airbus to deliver two five-bladed H145 helicopters to German states police forces
The Airbus H145 family has proven its capabilities with over 1,650 helicopters in active service, accumulating more than 7 million flight hours.

The newly ordered Airbus H145 helicopters will feature state-of-the-art police configurations, including the latest generation of police mission equipment.

Airbus has announced that The Ministries of Interior for the states of Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany have jointly placed orders for two Airbus H145 helicopters each, marking a significant upgrade for their respective police forces. These orders follow a collaborative European tender that was initiated in August 2022. The H145 helicopters will replace the aging EC135 and MD902 helicopters currently in service in the two states.

The newly ordered H145 helicopters will feature state-of-the-art police configurations, including the latest generation of police mission equipment. Additionally, they will be equipped with Bambi Buckets for firefighting capabilities, enhancing their versatility in various law enforcement and emergency response scenarios.

The latest version of the H145 helicopter was unveiled at Heli-Expo 2019 in Atlanta. This upgraded model features an innovative five-bladed rotor, increasing the helicopter’s useful load by 150 kg. The new bearingless main rotor design simplifies maintenance operations, improving the overall serviceability and reliability of the H145. Furthermore, this design enhances ride comfort for both passengers and crew.

“We are proud that Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have chosen the H145 for their police forces,” said Stefan Thomé, Managing Director, Airbus Helicopters Germany. “The H145 with its state-of-the-art police equipment will be the backbone of the German state police forces in the next decades, with more than 15 H145s already in service and another 15 helicopters to be delivered in the coming years,” he further added.

The Airbus H145 family has proven its capabilities with over 1,650 helicopters in active service, accumulating more than 7 million flight hours. Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145 features full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and the Helionix digital avionics suite. It includes a high-performance 4-axis autopilot, enhancing safety and reducing pilot workload. Notably, the H145 is the quietest helicopter in its class and boasts the lowest CO2 emissions compared to its competitors.
