Airbus has secured a firm order for 100 additional A321neo jets from Avolon bringing its total A321neo order to an impressive 190 aircraft.

Airbus and Avolon, the prominent international leasing company, have solidified their commitment to the  A321neo by signing a firm order for an additional 100 aircraft, bringing its total A321neo order to an impressive 190 aircraft. This strategic move enhances Avolon’s delivery pipeline, reaffirming its confidence in the long-term growth prospects of the aviation industry.

Avolon’s total firm order from Airbus now stands at an impressive 632 aircraft, covering various families, including A320, A330, and A350. In September 2023, the leasing company underscored its focus on the widebody market by ordering 20 A330neo aircraft, capitalizing on the increasing demand for long-haul travel.

“This order strengthens our delivery pipeline and reflects our confidence in the long-term growth outlook for aviation,“ said Andy Cronin, CEO, Avolon. Avolon now has 292 A320neo family aircraft on order, locking in our ability to support customers’ replacement and fleet expansion plans into the next decade. This order reflects the strength of Avolon’s balance sheet and our proven ability to execute transactions swiftly. We welcome the opportunity to enhance the longstanding relationship we have with Airbus and build on the order we made for 20 A330neos earlier this year,” he further added.

The A321neo, as the largest member of the A320neo Family, offers exceptional range and performance. Incorporating new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo delivers a remarkable 50% reduction in noise, along with more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. This order contributes to the growing success of the A321neo, with over 5,600 units ordered by more than 100 customers globally.

“This investment in the A321neo is a testimony by one of the world’s leading lessors to the unprecedented value the world’s most versatile single aisle aircraft generates for its lessor and operator base. It points to Avolon’s vision to secure slots longer term for its strong airline customer portfolio with the right aircraft for the future. This way Avolon and its customers can benefit from the strong wave of growth and replacements being observed globally across all markets,” said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Airbus.
