Airbus signs aircraft cargo doors contract with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.
This partnership between Airbus and TASL will support nearly 10,000 jobs in India today and create approximately 15,000 jobs by 2025.

TASL will use advanced robotics and automation technology to produce the doors for Airbus at a new facility in the high-tech city of Hyderabad in India.

Airbus has signed a contract with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) to manufacture cargo and bulk cargo doors for its A320neo aircraft family. This partnership will help Airbus increase its competitiveness in the single-aisle aircraft market while supporting the ramp-up of the A320 program. Airbus procures components and services worth $735 million every year from over 100 Indian suppliers. The company designs, manufactures, and maintains critical technologies and systems in India for every Airbus commercial aircraft and helicopter.

TASL will use advanced robotics and automation technology to produce the doors at a new facility in Hyderabad. Each shipset will contain two cargo doors and one bulk cargo door. The contract was signed by Olivier Cauquil, SVP Aerostructure Procurement, Airbus, and Masood Hussainy, VP & HO Aerostructure & Aero-Engines, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd., at Hyderabad city of India on March 29, 2023.

We will continue to grow our industrial footprint and the aviation and aerospace ecosystem at a fast pace in India.”

Moreover, Airbus will build the C295 military aircraft Final Assembly Line (FAL) with TASL in Gujarat, which is the first large-scale Make-in-India manufacturing aerospace program in the private sector. This program will create cutting-edge design, component manufacturing, aircraft assembly, and service capabilities across the value chain and support the Indian government’s ambition of a self-reliant India in defense manufacturing.

Sukaran Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. said, “We have an ongoing relationship with Airbus based on trust and operational excellence, and this new contract win will further bolster our partnership in aerospace manufacturing in India.”

This partnership between Airbus and TASL will support nearly 10,000 jobs in India today and create approximately 15,000 jobs by 2025. The C295 military aircraft program will also create 25,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next decade.
