Airbus has announced that The Hungarian Defence Forces have taken delivery of the first two H225M multi-purpose helicopters as part of a scheduled order of 16 units. Airbus Helicopters’ CEO, Bruno Even, officially handed over the helicopters at Szolnok Airbase, marking a significant milestone in Hungary’s efforts to modernize its helicopter fleet. To support the Hungarian Defence Forces’ operational requirements, Airbus is providing an extensive training and support package, ensuring the highest level of operational availability and mission readiness.

The H225M helicopters selected by Hungary are equipped with advanced communication capabilities and will be utilized for various missions, including transport, combat search and rescue, and special operations. With its state-of-the-art avionics and four-axis autopilot, the H225M boasts exceptional range and payload capacities, making it a versatile platform capable of carrying up to 24 troops. Its powerful air-to-ground and air-to-surface armament, coupled with electronic warfare systems, allow the helicopter to carry out the most demanding missions. Moreover, the H225M’s night vision goggle compatibility enhances its all-weather capabilities, ensuring operational effectiveness in challenging conditions.

Bruno Even, CEO, Airbus Helicopters said, “I am very happy that we have delivered the first H225Ms to Hungary today. The Defence Forces are receiving a combat-proven, multi-role platform, which is the latest version of a very successful helicopter family. Together with the light twin-engine H145M, which is already in operation, Hungary now has a modern helicopter fleet that can fly a broad range of military missions, and we are proud that they decided our helicopters were the right choice for their extremely important operations.”

Some of the H225M helicopters in the Hungarian fleet will be equipped with the HForce weapon management system, adding air support capabilities and enhancing interoperability with the existing Hungarian H145M fleet, which is also equipped with HForce. Recent flight trials in Hungary included the integration of a gun pod and rocket launchers on the H225M, further enhancing its combat capabilities.

The H225M is a military variant of the multi-role Super Puma family of helicopters and is already operational in several countries worldwide, including France, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Kuwait, and Singapore. Its combat-proven track record and adaptability make it an ideal choice for various military missions, and its addition to the Hungarian Defence Forces’ helicopter fleet will significantly enhance their operational capabilities.
