Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury’s heartfelt thanks to French Government

10 June 2020: In response to the French Government’s enormous bailout plan for the aerospace industry, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury has come up with a statement in which he is extremely thankful to the government for supporting the aerospace sector in such an unprecedented crisis. He goes ahead to wholeheartedly welcome the strong plan which will be an important milestone for their commercial aircraft business which is facing 40 per cent reduction.

The French Government on Tuesday announced a massive package of 15 billion euros which includes aids for Air France, Airbus and major French parts suppliers through direct government investment, subsidies, loans and loan guarantees apart from some previously announced measures.

In exchange for the support, companies will be required to invest in environment friendly ways of aviation like electric flights or hybrid engines to make the French aviation industry the “cleanest in the world.”

Mr Faury further urges the workforce to make best use of the available resources to help bounce back from the short term impact and help Airbus to rebound once the time is right.

He further goes on to explain Airbus ‘zero emission’ plan which is in sync with the government’s plan of decarbonisation of air transport. Airbus will continue its leading role in the mission to present the first “zero emission” commercial aircraft by 2035.
