Since May 2020, airBaltic has exclusively operated flights with the Airbus A220-300, streamlining its fleet to improve efficiency and simplify operations.

This marks the fourth delivery of an Airbus A220-300 to airBaltic in 2023, as part of the airline’s order for a total of 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

airBaltic, the Latvian national airline, on September 2, 2023, celebrated the arrival of its 43rd Airbus A220-300 aircraft, registered as YL-ABR, at Riga Airport. This marks the fourth delivery of an Airbus A220-300 to airBaltic in 2023, as part of the airline’s order for a total of 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Additionally, airBaltic holds options and purchase rights for an additional 30 aircraft of the same type. Since the introduction of the Airbus A220-300 to its fleet, airBaltic has served nearly 13,000,000 passengers, with its A220-300s completing close to 143,000 flights and accumulating over 311,000 block hours of flight time.

The A220-300 has exceeded airBaltic’s expectations, offering outstanding performance, fuel efficiency, and a superior experience for both passengers and crew members.

The Airbus A220-300 features several passenger-centric advantages, including wider seats, larger windows, increased cabin hand luggage space, enhanced lavatories, and more. The aircraft also boasts a top-tier air filtration system equipped with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, ensuring the highest level of air quality by continually recirculating cabin air and providing 20-30 total air changes per hour.

Furthermore, the A220-300 is significantly quieter, emitting a noise footprint four times smaller than comparable aircraft. It is also recognized as the world’s most environmentally friendly commercial aircraft. It offers full transparency regarding its life-cycle environmental impact, contributing to a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 50% reduction in NOX emissions.
