AFI KLM E&M deploys Prognos for Norse Atlantic Airways’ Boeing 787 fleet

AFI KLM E&M deploys Prognos for Norse Atlantic Airways’ Boeing 787 fleet.
This expansion of services is an outgrowth of the component pooling contract signed between AFI KLM E&M and Norse Atlantic Airways in 2022.

AFI KLM E&M will deploy the Prognos for jets, across Norse Atlantic Airways’ Boeing 787 fleet, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing the risk of unexpected MRO issues.

AFI KLM E&M, a major player in multi-product aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, is extending its partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways. The company will deploy its cutting-edge predictive maintenance solution, Prognos for Aircraft, across Norse Atlantic Airways’ Boeing 787 fleet, enhancing the airline’s operational efficiency and reducing the risk of unexpected maintenance issues.

Prognos for Aircraft is a predictive maintenance suite that leverages Big Data and artificial intelligence to optimize the scheduling of component and equipment maintenance operations. This technology empowers airlines to foresee potential component breakdowns and organize maintenance activities, including inspections, testing, and repairs, well in advance. By doing so, it helps them steer clear of Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, which can lead to costly operational disruptions.

Derk Nieuwenhuijze, VP Digital, Marketing & Communication, AFI KLM E&M said,“Norse Atlantic Airways’ decision to enlist AFI KLM E&M’s predictive maintenance solutions follows on from the Component Support agreement signed in 2022. Availability was also a key component of that agreement, which provided access to a parts pool and MBK, and the Prognos application adds a further level of security, control and optimization to our customer’s operations.”

This expansion of services is an outgrowth of the component pooling contract signed between AFI KLM E&M and Norse Atlantic Airways in 2022. It is a testament to AFI KLM E&M’s commitment to delivering comprehensive support and innovative solutions to its customers. As airlines continue to grapple with the resurgence of air travel following the pandemic, the need for efficient maintenance and reliable component support has never been more critical. Airlines like Norse Atlantic Airways are looking for ways to maintain the highest level of operational efficiency while reducing the chances of costly groundings.

For Norse Atlantic Airways, which offers affordable long-haul flights primarily between Europe and the United States, the integration of Prognos for Aircraft is poised to be a game-changer. The ability to anticipate and address maintenance issues before they disrupt flight schedules significantly contributes to their core goal of keeping their aircraft in the sky for longer durations. By adopting a proactive approach to maintenance, they can prevent problems from occurring in the first place, rather than reacting to issues as they arise.

Thom-Arne Norheim, COO, Norse Atlantic Airways said, “For an airline, keeping aircraft in the sky for longer is of course one of our most important objectives. The foresight provided by predictive maintenance, which aims to anticipate problems rather than dealing with them as they arise, is therefore extremely advantageous, and AFI KLM E&M’s Prognos suite enables us to lean in to this approach. For us, this will be a vector for progress in the management and organization of maintenance operations, and by extension a beneficial means of reducing costs in this area.”

This partnership with AFI KLM E&M represents a strategic move towards efficient and cost-effective maintenance, which is crucial in today’s highly competitive and rapidly evolving aviation industry. Reducing operational disruptions and enhancing the overall passenger experience are paramount goals for airlines like Norse Atlantic Airways. With AFI KLM E&M’s Prognos for Aircraft solution, Norse Atlantic Airways can look forward to smoother operations, better cost control, and more reliable services for their customers.

Norse Atlantic Airways, which commenced operations in 2022, has rapidly expanded its presence on long-haul routes between Europe and the United States. The airline operates a modern fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, focusing on fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness. By partnering with AFI KLM E&M for predictive maintenance solutions, Norse Atlantic Airways aims to stay ahead in the highly competitive airline industry by providing more dependable and cost-effective services.
