Aero Engine Solutions expands leased engine portfolio with acquisition of 14 overhauled CFM56-7B engines

Aero Engine Solutions (AES) has strengthened its position in the commercial engine aftermarket through a strategic joint venture with a leading institutional investor, enabling the acquisition of 14 overhauled CFM56-7B engines from a major airline.

The transaction marks a significant milestone for both Aero Engine Solutions and Aero Engine Leasing (AEL), expanding their portfolio of serviceable engines and enhancing their ability to support airlines and MRO providers with reliable engine leasing and asset solutions.

The newly acquired engines will help address the industry’s growing demand for readily available, overhauled powerplants as operators continue to navigate supply chain constraints, extended shop visit turnaround times and limited spare engine availability. By increasing access to certified serviceable assets, the deal is expected to improve fleet operational continuity and reduce aircraft downtime for airline customers.

AES said the partnership reflects its long-term strategy of combining financial backing with technical expertise to expand its engine asset portfolio and strengthen support for operators worldwide. The company noted that strategic collaborations with institutional investors are becoming increasingly important in enabling the acquisition of high-value aviation assets while meeting the evolving needs of the global aftermarket.

The acquisition also reinforces the growing importance of the CFM56-7B engine platform, which continues to power a substantial portion of the global Boeing 737 Next Generation fleet. Despite the industry’s transition toward new-generation aircraft and engines, demand for high-quality overhauled CFM56 assets remains strong as airlines seek cost-effective solutions to maintain fleet availability.

Commenting on the milestone on LinkedIn Aero Engine Solutions said the partnership underscores its commitment to delivering dependable, serviceable engine solutions while continuing to invest in strategic relationships that expand its global capabilities. The company also acknowledged the contributions of its partners and the teams at AES and Aero Engine Leasing in completing the transaction.

The latest investment further positions AES to strengthen its presence in the engine leasing market while supporting airlines with greater access to serviceable engines amid continued aftermarket capacity constraints.
