AerCap chooses GE Aerospace GEnx engines for 15 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners

AerCap has selected GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B engines to power its latest order of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, further expanding its portfolio of GEnx-powered aircraft and reinforcing its long-standing partnership with the engine manufacturer.

The engine selection follows AerCap’s recent order for 15 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and increases the lessor’s portfolio to approximately 200 GEnx engines either owned or on order. AerCap remains the world’s largest owner of Boeing 787 aircraft.

The GEnx-1B engine, which powers Boeing‘s 787 family, has accumulated more than 50 million flight hours since entering commercial service. According to GE Aerospace, the engine delivers a 99.98% dispatch reliability rate and has undergone continuous durability enhancements that have significantly increased time on wing, particularly in challenging operating environments.

To support growing global demand for new widebody aircraft, GE Aerospace is expanding GEnx production capacity through ongoing investments across its manufacturing facilities and supply chain in Europe and the United States. The production ramp-up is intended to meet increasing customer requirements as airlines and lessors continue to invest in next-generation, fuel-efficient long-haul fleets.
