ACIA Aero Leasing has completed a sale and leaseback (SLB) transaction with Braathens Regional Airlines involving two ATR72-600 passenger aircraft, further expanding its partnership with the Scandinavian regional carrier.
The aircraft, identified as MSN 1348 and MSN 1357, are currently operating regional routes across Sweden and Northern Europe on behalf of SAS. With the latest agreement, ACIA’s leased fleet with Braathens has increased to three aircraft, while the lessor’s overall ATR portfolio has grown to 38 aircraft.
Braathens operates an extensive domestic and regional network, providing feeder and connectivity services for SAS across key Nordic markets.
Commenting on the transaction, Mick Mooney, Chief Executive Officer of ACIA Aero Leasing, said the agreement reflects the company’s continued support for Braathens as the airline advances its business transformation strategy.
“We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Braathens through this SLB transaction on two ATR72-600s. The transaction further demonstrates our support for Braathens as they continue to transform their business,” he stated.
Mia Jakobsson, Head of Fleet Management & PMO at Braathens, highlighted the strong cooperation between both companies and welcomed the continued partnership.
“We greatly appreciate ACIA’s continued support throughout the changes Braathens has undergone in recent times. These transactions are a testament to the strong cooperation between our teams, and we value the partnership as our joint business continues to grow,” she said.
The transaction underlines continued leasing activity in the regional aviation sector as airlines increasingly utilise sale and leaseback agreements to support fleet management and financial flexibility.
